Pakistan Responds with Escalation, Targets Military Bases in India
In stark contrast, Pakistan launched an escalatory response, attempting to strike multiple Indian military targets across 15 cities including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, and Bhuj using drones and missiles.
These incoming threats were neutralised by India’s Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems, and debris is now being collected to further confirm Pakistan’s aggression.
India Neutralises Pakistani Air Defence Radars in Measured Retaliation
Staying within the military domain, India retaliated by disabling several Pakistani air defence systems, including a key radar in Lahore. The government confirmed that this response was “in the same domain with the same intensity” as Pakistan’s offensive.
Pakistan Fires Across LoC, India Responds to Stop Civilian Casualties
Pakistan also stepped up artillery shelling across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, affecting regions like Kupwara, Uri, Poonch, and Rajouri. Tragically, 16 civilians, including three women and five children, lost their lives.
India responded with measured mortar and artillery fire to halt Pakistan’s assault and protect civilian lives, reiterating its commitment to non-escalation, provided Pakistan adheres to it.
Operation Sindoor: A Response to the Pahalgam Massacre
The Indian strikes came in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, where 25 people, including tourists, were brutally killed by terrorists from The Resistance Front, a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy. Communications linked the attackers directly to Pakistani handlers.
India Holds Pakistan Accountable for Cross-Border Terrorism
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stressed India’s intent to hold the perpetrators and planners accountable. He criticized Pakistan’s denial and inaction, stating that Indian intelligence had picked up signals of impending terror attacks, making a pre-emptive strike both necessary and urgent.
A Responsible, Proportional, and Strategic Response
India’s strikes were non-escalatory, proportionate, and solely targeted at terrorist infrastructure, avoiding any civilian or military establishments. Misri reaffirmed that India’s objective was deterrence and dismantling the terror networks, not conflict escalation.
