Trump Gave the Go-Ahead—Is America About to Join the Iran-Israel War?
There has been a lot of conjecture regarding American involvement in the Israel-Iran conflict since recent reports from The Wall Street Journal indicate that U.S. President Donald Trump has approved military options against Iran.
But Trump has yet to receive confirmation on whether Iran will abandon its nuclear aspirations. His plan depends on keeping an eye on Tehran’s next course of action before deciding.
During a press briefing at the White House, Trump issued a cryptic yet ominous message:
“I may do something, or I may not do something. Nobody really knows what I’m doing.”
He later hinted that the next few days or week “could be very big,” emphasizing that he knows the whereabouts of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, but is “not looking to do that right now.”
The Jerusalem Post claims that Gen. Michael Kurilla, the head of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), briefed Trump on a variety of military strategies aimed at Iran. The White House is prepared with ground-level options, if ordered, as that briefing makes clear.
Trump reportedly made a covert attempt to initiate dialogue with Iran’s foreign ministry. New York Times reveals that Tehran is reportedly open to talks focusing on two key points:
But Ayatollah Khamenei rebuffed Trump’s demands for “unconditional surrender”, warning that any attack on Iran would come at a “high cost.”
Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged both Iran and Israel to pursue peace. Kremlin officials are said to be exploring a mediating role.
Putin told Reuters:
“Finding paths to compromise is in everyone’s interest. Conflict should not escalate further in the Middle East.”
