Trump Accuses Russia of Stealing U.S. Hypersonic Missile Tech During West Point Address

In a fiery and unapologetically patriotic speech at the U.S. Military Academy’s commencement ceremony at West Point, President Donald Trump stirred controversy by accusing Russia of stealing America’s hypersonic missile technology. Addressing a stadium packed with graduating cadets, Trump didn’t hold back as he claimed that the cutting-edge missile designs, originally developed under U.S. programs, were compromised during the Obama administration.

“Something terrible happened,” Trump said, referencing the alleged theft. “The Russians stole it. They stole our hypersonic technology. We’re the designers — it was ours.” He added that while America is now rapidly developing new hypersonic weapons, the original blueprints were compromised during a time of “weak leadership.”

Trump’s remarks came as he applauded cadets who had taken on the challenge of designing their own hypersonic rocket projects, suggesting the U.S. is once again leading in high-tech military innovation. “We’re building them now — a lot of them,” he said, with a tone of defiance and pride.

Rebuilding America’s Military Might

The president used the platform to highlight what he considers one of his administration’s crowning achievements: the revitalization of the U.S. Armed Forces. “You are about to become officers in the greatest, most powerful military the world has ever known,” he told the cadets. “And I know that because I rebuilt that military — like no one ever had before.”

He credited his first term with ushering in a new era of military strength, investment, and readiness, contrasting it with what he described as a period of decay under previous administrations.

Targeting Biden’s Military Policies

Trump didn’t stop at international rivals — he also took aim at domestic political opponents. In a veiled but sharp rebuke of the Biden administration, Trump criticized what he sees as a shift in the military’s focus away from combat readiness and toward political correctness.

“Our military must be focused on defeating enemies and protecting American values,” he said. “We’re eliminating distractions and returning the Armed Forces to its core mission — to crush America’s adversaries, to destroy our enemies, and to defend our great American flag like never before.”

He ridiculed military events held under the current administration, saying the Armed Forces should not be hosting “drag shows or trying to reshape foreign cultures.” According to Trump, the purpose of the military is straightforward: “Win wars. Protect the nation. Period.”

Rhetoric, Reality, and the Race for Supremacy

Trump’s claims about Russia stealing hypersonic technology aren’t new, but repeating them at a high-profile military event adds new weight to the allegations. Hypersonic weapons, capable of flying at speeds above Mach 5 and maneuvering mid-flight, are seen as the next frontier in modern warfare. While Russia has tested and deployed such weapons, the U.S. is still scaling up its own capabilities.

Whether the designs were truly “stolen” remains a matter of speculation — no conclusive public evidence has been presented. But in Trump’s narrative, the theft serves as both a cautionary tale and a rallying cry: America must lead, or risk being outpaced by rivals who play dirty.

His message to the next generation of officers was crystal clear — stay strong, stay focused, and never allow complacency to threaten America’s dominance.
