They Reunited at 101! The Tearjerking Story of Two Sisters Lost for Decades

The pain of separation is deep—especially when it involves a loved one. But when the separated meet again, especially after nearly a lifetime, that reunion becomes unforgettable. That’s exactly what happened with Brenda Medway and Kathleen, two sisters who reunited in the UK at the age of 101 and 93, decades after losing contact.

A Medal That Led to a Miracle

Kathleen, now 101, was recently re-awarded a WWII Loyal Service Medal for her role during the war, where she worked as a mechanic helping launch British Spitfires. This recognition brought her back into the spotlight—and into the heart of her younger sister Brenda, who had been living in a different care home and longed to see her again.

A Caregiver Connects the Missing Pieces

When Brenda heard the news about Kathleen’s medal, she shared with staff at her care home in Cwrt-Clwydi-Gwyn her desire to reunite with her sister. Senior carer Tomos Lovell took it upon himself to track Kathleen down, eventually discovering she lived at Old Vicarage Nursing Home in Towyn.

He arranged the long-awaited meeting—and when Brenda finally saw Kathleen, Kathleen recognized her immediately, even after all these years. The emotional reunion brought tears and joy, proving that sisterly love has no expiration date.

A WWII Heroine Honored—And Reunited

Kathleen was born in 1924 and joined the RAF Loughborough during WWII, serving as a skilled mechanic. Her dedication earned her a Loyal Service Medal from King George VI, but she had lost the medal over time. Now, not only did she get her medal back—but also the priceless gift of reunion with her beloved sister.
