In a significant military action, Pakistan carried out air strikes on terrorist hideouts in multiple regions of Afghanistan on Sunday night. According to reports, the air raids were launched around 8 PM, targeting areas in Paktika, Barmal, Shawal (North Waziristan), Paktia, and Khost provinces.
Apart from the air strikes, intense clashes were reported between Afghan Taliban fighters and Pakistani forces near the border in Nangarhar’s Lalpur district. The Pakistani military has intensified its operations against Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) hideouts along the border.
This is not the first time Pakistan has launched such an offensive. In December last year, a major air strike targeted the Barmal district in Paktika province, resulting in the deaths of 46 individuals, including women and children. Officials suggested that the casualty count might rise as several villages were affected.
The recent air strikes have caused significant destruction, further straining the already tense relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban of providing refuge to TTP militants, who have escalated their attacks on Pakistani security forces in recent months.
The situation remains volatile as both sides continue to engage in military actions, raising concerns over regional stability.
