Saudi Arabia’s Explosive Warning to Iran: Nuclear Deal or Death

Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, visited Iran and delivered a firm warning to Iranian leaders. He urged Tehran to seriously consider U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal for resuming nuclear deal negotiations. Saudi Arabia warned that failure to engage sincerely could lead to a severe threat of an Israeli military strike against Iran.

Saudi Arabia’s High-Level Diplomatic Visit to Tehran

In response to escalating regional tensions, 89-year-old Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz sent his son, Prince Khalid, who is also the defense minister, to Tehran. According to Reuters, during the April 17 meeting, Prince Khalid met with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other top officials, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, the military chief, and the foreign minister.

Urgency to Reach a Nuclear Deal

Prince Khalid emphasized that the Trump administration has very little patience left regarding the nuclear deal talks. He warned Iranian leaders that if a decision isn’t reached soon, the diplomatic path would close quickly. He stated that striking a deal with the U.S. is a better alternative than facing an Israeli attack.

Regional Stability at Risk Amid Gaza Conflict

The prince noted that the region is already burning due to the ongoing Gaza conflict and cannot afford another crisis. This visit marked the first in nearly two decades by a Saudi royal to Iran, signaling a cautious thaw in the historically tense Sunni-Shia rivalry between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Trump’s Call to Delay Israeli Attack on Iran

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump publicly revealed on Wednesday that he asked Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to hold off on any attacks against Iran. Trump indicated this delay was to allow more time for the U.S. administration to push forward with renewed nuclear negotiations with Tehran.

Continued Uncertainty Over Iran Nuclear Program

Trump’s comments came as the head of the United Nations nuclear watchdog reiterated that no agreement has yet been reached regarding Iran’s rapidly expanding nuclear program. The international community remains watchful as diplomatic efforts continue amidst rising tensions.
