Pakistan’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, recently led a group of local and international journalists to the Line of Control (LoC), making a bold statement that India’s claims about terrorist camps are “entirely baseless.” According to Tarar, the sites identified by India are, in fact, civilian zones.

The tour was organized by Pakistan’s I&B Ministry as an effort to counter India’s allegations and “expose” its narrative. During the visit, media personnel were given access to the local population to present what Pakistani officials claim is the “truth on ground.”

India-Pakistan tensions have escalated significantly since the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which left 26 people dead. Though Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba’s affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF), initially claimed responsibility, it later retracted after India vowed severe retaliation.
In response to the growing instability, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) will hold a closed-door emergency consultation on Monday, May 5, 2025. Pakistan has formally requested the meeting, citing the deteriorating situation in Jammu and Kashmir and the risk of wider conflict.
Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, will speak to the press following the UNSC session. According to Pakistan’s mission, the meeting represents a critical moment to address “regional and international threats to peace and security.”
