Israel Attempts to Eliminate Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah

Overnight on Friday and Saturday, the Israel-Hezbollah crisis escalated as Israeli warplanes launched an attack on residential buildings located just south of Beirut. The target of the attack was reportedly an attempt to assassinate Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, who was holding a leadership meeting in an underground headquarters.

“The New York Times reported that Israeli officials have revealed that their initial assessment, based on intelligence gathered from inside the militant group and the number and size of the bombs used, suggests that Nasrallah has been killed.”

Lebanon’s health ministry reported that the Israeli strikes on Friday evening resulted in the deaths of at least six people and left more than 90 others injured. The toll was expected to increase as emergency workers continued to search through the rubble, even as Israel launched additional strikes.

Netanyahu delivered a determined address at the UN

Following a fiery speech by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the United Nations General Assembly, the latest Israeli airstrikes occurred. Netanyahu vowed to continue the fight against Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon despite international calls for a ceasefire. He expressed that he had not planned to attend the meeting this year due to his country being at war, but decided to come after hearing what he perceived as lies and slanders about his country by many of the speakers at the podium.

During his address at the General Assembly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized Israel’s right to eliminate the threat posed by Hezbollah and ensure the safe return of its citizens. His remarks were met with applause from supporters in the gallery. Netanyahu reaffirmed Israel’s commitment to continuing its efforts to weaken Hezbollah until all its objectives are achieved. Additionally, it was noted that Netanyahu decided to curtail his visit to the UN in order to promptly return to Israel and assess the ongoing situation.
