Late last night and early Thursday morning, Pakistan launched a coordinated attempt to strike Indian military installations in 15 northern and western cities, including locations in Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Gujarat. The Indian government confirmed that the provocation was effectively neutralised by Indian defence systems.
In a swift and calculated counter-strike, Indian forces targeted and destroyed Pakistani Air Defence Radars and installations in multiple locations, including Lahore. The government said the Indian retaliation was delivered “in the same domain and with the same intensity” as the initial attacks.
According to sources quoted by ANI, India deployed Harpy drones to disable Pakistani air defences. The Russian-made S-400 air defence system was then used to intercept and destroy incoming missiles targeting Indian cities. The precision and coordination of India’s response ensured no damage to military infrastructure or civilian lives.
Indian authorities have begun collecting debris from the intercepted drones and missiles, which will serve as evidence of Pakistan’s cross-border military aggression. The Defence Ministry stressed that this material adds to the growing body of proof linking Pakistan’s military and intelligence networks to terrorism.
India’s retaliation came just a day after Operation Sindoor, a 25-minute precision strike conducted in the early hours of Wednesday. The operation targeted four terror camps in Pakistan and five in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
A total of 24 precision munitions, including HAMMER smart bombs and SCALP cruise missiles, were used to destroy terrorist headquarters and training centres. Over 100 terrorists were neutralised, according to Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
Operation Sindoor was a direct response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, where four terrorists from The Resistance Front, a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy, killed 26 people, many of them civilians, at Baisaran Valley, a popular tourist site near Srinagar.
At a joint press briefing, the Indian Army and Air Force underlined that the operation was based on solid intelligence and was “focused, measured, and non-escalatory.” They also confirmed that no Pakistani military establishments were targeted, reaffirming India’s intent to act against terror, not escalate conflict.
