The UK government has responded to the security breach involving Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. The incident occurred outside the Chatham House in London, where Jaishankar was leaving after an interactive session. During this time, a Khalistani protester attempted to breach barricades while other protesters raised anti-India slogans.
Immediate Action Taken by UK Police
According to sources from the UK Foreign Office, the Metropolitan Police immediately handled the situation. The UK government condemned the incident, emphasizing that any attempts to intimidate or threaten individuals were unacceptable. “The Metropolitan Police swiftly took control of the situation, and we strongly condemn this incident,” stated UK Foreign Office sources.
India’s Strong Reaction
India also took a firm stance on the matter, urging the host government to fulfill its diplomatic responsibilities. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson, Randhir Jayswal, said, “We have seen the video of the breach in the Foreign Minister’s security. We condemn the provocative activities of these separatist and extremist elements.” He further stated, “We condemn the misuse of democratic freedoms by such elements and expect the host government to fulfill its diplomatic duties in full.”
Khalistani Protesters and Disturbance Outside Chatham House
In the viral video on social media, some Khalistani protesters can be seen waving yellow flags and chanting anti-India slogans. Jaishankar was standing across the street, and just as he was about to enter his car, a tall individual broke through the police cordon and stood in front of the car, trying to stop it. Growing Threat of Khalistani Elements in the UK
This is not the first time Khalistani elements have breached security. In March 2023, Khalistani supporters attacked the Indian High Commission in London and pulled down the national flag. India reacted strongly to this incident, summoning the British High Commissioner in New Delhi and demanding an explanation regarding security arrangements.

India has consistently demanded that the UK take tougher action against active Khalistani elements operating from its territory.
