“Choose Peace or Perish”: Israel Turns Up Heat on Hamas in Gaza

As tensions in Gaza reach another boiling point, a new U.S.-backed ceasefire and hostage deal has emerged — one that Israel has officially endorsed. But Hamas isn’t on board, and now Israel is issuing a direct ultimatum: either accept the proposal or face full-scale military consequences.

A Final Warning from Israel

On Friday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant delivered a stark message to Hamas: accept the “Witkoff Deal”, brokered by U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff, or the opportunity for any peaceful resolution will be erased. Gallant stated bluntly, “The murderers of Hamas must now choose: release the hostages under the current terms, or face complete annihilation.”

The U.S. Offers, Israel Agrees, Hamas Hesitates

The White House confirmed that Israel has given its support to the latest American ceasefire proposal. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters, “We can confirm that special envoy Steve Witkoff and the President have sent a proposal to Hamas, which has received Israeli backing.” However, Hamas has yet to respond formally.

Witkoff had earlier stated that the U.S. was putting forward a comprehensive new plan aimed at securing a temporary halt to the violence and facilitating the release of hostages held in Gaza.

What’s on the Table: Hostage Exchange & Ceasefire

According to Israeli media, the proposed deal includes a 60-day ceasefire, during which Hamas would release 10 living hostages and return the bodies of 18 deceased captives in two separate phases. In return, Israel would release a number of Palestinian prisoners from its jails.

Hamas Rejects the Terms — For Now

A senior Hamas official told media outlets that the group is unlikely to accept the deal, claiming it fails to address their core demands, particularly a permanent end to the war. The official added that Hamas would respond “at an appropriate time.”

Netanyahu Pushes Forward Despite Uncertainty

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu informed hostage families that his government has already signed off on the plan. Israel, which resumed its military operations in Gaza on March 18, is applying maximum pressure on Hamas, aiming to force the release of 58 remaining hostages, though reports suggest that only around 20 are believed to be alive.

As the diplomatic standoff deepens, the world watches to see if Hamas will fold under pressure or continue to resist — possibly at a devastating cost.
