India’s recent cross-border military campaign, Operation Sindoor, delivered a decisive blow not just to terrorist hideouts in Pakistan, but also to the credibility of China’s defense exports. The operation, executed with precision and cutting-edge weaponry, revealed the glaring weaknesses of the very Chinese defense systems Pakistan relied on to counter India.
Chinese Tech Falls Flat as India Strikes Deep Inside Pakistan
During the operation, Pakistan deployed its Chinese-supplied air defense systems, fighter jets, and satellite surveillance tools in a bid to deter Indian strikes. However, none of them managed to detect or intercept Indian aircraft. Reports indicate that despite having advanced Chinese technology, Pakistan was unable to stop Indian jets from breaching its airspace and delivering pinpoint strikes on terror and military targets.

At a recent press briefing, when asked about the failure of Chinese systems during Operation Sindoor, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang sidestepped technical queries and reiterated a neutral peacekeeping stance.
“India and Pakistan are neighbors that cannot be moved. We hope both sides remain calm and restrained to avoid further escalation,” he said.
China’s carefully measured response indicated a strategic retreat from the spotlight — an attempt to avoid public acknowledgment of its defense shortcomings.

Defense analysts believe that Beijing is maintaining a “low-profile diplomacy” strategy to shield its global arms trade from damage. A direct admission of failure could undermine China’s credibility as a defense supplier, particularly in emerging markets across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Operation Sindoor showcased India’s formidable arsenal, including BrahMos missiles, SCALP cruise missiles, Harop drones, and precision-guided bombs. These advanced systems struck their targets with deadly accuracy, drawing international attention to India’s growing military capabilities.
According to defense ministry sources, inquiries and interest in Indian-made weapons have surged from countries across South Asia, Africa, and Latin America. With the ‘Make in India’ initiative gaining momentum, India is now on track to double its defense exports in the next two years — a significant leap toward strategic self-reliance.
