Salaam Namaste Receives National Award at WAVES 2025
Noida: During the 8th National Community Radio Sammelan held in Mumbai as part of WAVES 2025, the winners of the 10th National Community Radio Awards were announced. Community Radio Salaam Namaste was honored with the Third Prize for Most Innovative Community Engagement for its radio program “Maid Didi”.

Recognition for ‘Maid Didi’ Program
The award was presented by Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Dr. L. Murugan, who honored Salaam Namaste‘s Station Head Varsha Chhabaria with a trophy, certificate, and cash reward.

The award-winning program, “Maid Didi”, is dedicated to empowering domestic helpers by equipping them with new skills and providing them with a platform for social recognition. The program was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
A Proud Moment for Uttar Pradesh
Station Head Varsha Chhabaria shared that Salaam Namaste is the first community radio station in Uttar Pradesh to be honored with the National Award four times. This year, it is the only station from the state to receive the award. She emphasized the social impact of “Maid Didi”, calling it a step towards building identity and empowerment for domestic workers.
