Why the US Will Always Choose Israel Over the Rest of the World – No Matter What
There are friends, and then there is Israel, a nation that America appears to support without reservation. The United States is unwaveringly supportive of Israel regardless of the morality of its actions. Why does the largest superpower in the world value this tiny Middle Eastern country so highly?
America acted without hesitation when Iran’s strategic advances threatened to overwhelm Israel recently. In direct support of Israel, US bombers quickly struck three important Iranian nuclear sites. This is not a singular occurrence. It is a component of a relationship that has been developed over many years via power, religion, diplomacy, and war.
David Ben-Gurion proclaimed Israel an independent state in 1948 after Britain terminated its mandate over Palestine. The United States became the first nation to formally recognise Israel in just eleven minutes.
President Harry S. Truman’s prompt acknowledgement was the first step towards a strong foundation of US-Israeli ties, not merely a diplomatic move. It was the realisation of a long-held dream for American Jews and Christian Zionists: a secure Jewish homeland following the atrocities of World War II.
In 1947, the UN proposed Resolution 181, which split Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states. The United States strongly supported this plan. Without this backing, the birth of Israel might never have materialized.
Over the years, even as Israel expanded and pushed Palestinians into shrinking territories, America’s support remained rock solid. Where America questions the behavior of other nations, it seems Israel always gets a different rulebook.
Israel’s early survival heavily depended on US economic aid. American Jewish communities, through organizations like the United Jewish Appeal (UJA), funneled massive funds to the newly formed nation.
While direct military support was initially limited, by the 1950s and 1960s, the US was equipping Israel with advanced weapons and technologies. That flow has only grown stronger with time.
Year | Annual Aid (in Billion USD) |
---|---|
2000 | 2.5 |
2010 | 3.0 |
2020 | 3.8 |
2025 | 4.0 |
In the halls of Washington, one force is always working behind the scenes – the powerful Jewish lobby. Organizations like AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) hold extraordinary sway over US foreign policy.
With nearly 7 million Jews in the United States, their voting power is critical in presidential elections. No Republican or Democrat dares to risk alienating this community. In Washington, standing against Israel can often mean political suicide.
During the Cold War, as countries like Egypt, Syria, and Iraq drifted toward the Soviet Union, America desperately needed a reliable ally in the Middle East.
Israel stepped up.
In the 1967 Six-Day War and the 1973 Yom Kippur War, America stood firmly behind Israel, even launching Operation Nickel Grass to rapidly deliver weapons and supplies during the height of battle. Israel evolved into America’s forward military base in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
Under Donald Trump, America slashed foreign aid to many countries, but the flow of billions to Israel never stopped.
Israel currently receives about $4 billion per year in military aid, including some of America’s most advanced weapons like F-35 fighter jets, Iron Dome missile defense systems, and cutting-edge drone technologies.
Israel has effectively become America’s live battlefield for testing high-tech weaponry in real-world conflicts.
The partnership between Israel’s Mossad and America’s CIA is legendary in the intelligence world. Since 2010, the two agencies have collaborated closely, particularly to disrupt Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Their joint cyber-attack using the Stuxnet virus is one of the most famous examples of their secret wars. Whether it’s tracking terrorists, toppling regimes, or spying on adversaries, Mossad and the CIA often work as invisible brothers-in-arms.
A major but often overlooked reason for America’s unwavering support is the influence of Christian Evangelicals. About 25% of Americans identify as Evangelicals, and they passionately believe Israel’s existence is essential for fulfilling Biblical prophecies.
For them, Israel isn’t just a country – it’s “God’s Land” and the key to the Second Coming of Christ. No American politician can afford to lose their votes. This religious devotion directly shapes US foreign policy and cements Israel’s place as America’s sacred ally.
The US government officially lists Israel’s security as a national priority. In simple terms: Israel’s survival, military dominance, and regional power are non-negotiable to America.
Whether the threat comes from Iran, Hezbollah, or Hamas, America’s response is always the same – support Israel militarily, economically, and diplomatically. This has become a permanent cornerstone of American foreign policy.
America often preaches democracy, human rights, and global fairness. But when it comes to Israel, all those yardsticks seem to disappear.
Israel is not just America’s friend – it’s America’s frontline soldier, its regional stronghold, and its political heartbeat. From economic aid to military firepower, from intelligence sharing to religious ties – the bond is so deep that fighting Israel is like fighting America itself.
