Sarah Jessica Parker Says She’ll Miss Met Gala 2025—Here’s Why She’s Sitting It Out
Fashion icon and And Just Like That star Sarah Jessica Parker has officially bowed out of the 2025 Met Gala, citing unavoidable work commitments. In a recent chat with Entertainment Tonight, the style legend kept it simple: “I have to work.” While fans will miss her dramatic flair on the red carpet, Parker remains enthusiastic about the event from afar.
Still a Fan—Even From the Sidelines
Though she won’t be making a grand entrance this year, Parker made it clear that she’s still invested in the gala and its creative vision.
“There’s gonna be so much to see, and I look forward to seeing what everybody does and how they interpret the theme,” she said, expressing admiration for the effort and artistry behind the event.
This Year’s Theme? “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style”
The 2025 Met Gala theme, titled “superfine: tailoring black style,” is expected to showcase groundbreaking takes on Black fashion and bespoke tailoring. While Parker won’t be there in person, she applauded the curators and creatives behind the theme.
“I care a lot about it and I want to really honour the work of the curators and everybody who sort of inspired the moment,” she added.
Red Carpet Royalty in Rewind
Over the years, Sarah Jessica Parker has become synonymous with iconic Met Gala looks, often working hand-in-hand with top designers to create ensembles that are both daring and deeply thematic. Her absence this year marks a rare miss for one of the event’s most celebrated attendees.
Life at Home: Not Everyone Asks the Fashion Queen for Advice
Despite her decades-long reign as a fashion muse, Parker revealed that her three children—James Wilkie, and twins Marion and Tabitha—don’t turn to her for style advice.
“They come to me like any typical 15-year-old, almost 16-year-old, would come to a parent. But it has nothing to do with my connection to fashion,” she laughed.
She added that any questions are the usual parenting stuff—definitely not red-carpet related.
No Red Carpet, But Still Watching Closely
Though fans won’t see her name lighting up headlines or photos trending on social media this Met Monday, Sarah Jessica Parker’s curiosity, support, and style spirit remain very much part of the Met Gala’s legacy. Expect her to be front-row from her screen—even if it’s from a studio set.
