A startling discovery has sparked concerns in international defence circles as the Israel-Iran conflict enters its sixth day. The Wall Street Journal claims that Israel’s renowned missile defence system, particularly its Arrow interceptor missiles, is currently “dangerously low” in supply.
These are the same systems that have so far stopped hundreds of Iranian drone and ballistic missile attacks. However, even Israel’s most sophisticated defences are beginning to be overpowered by constant waves of attacks.
U.S. Knew It Was Coming—And Acted Quietly
While Israel publicly projected control, Washington had already anticipated this scenario months in advance. The Pentagon, acting discreetly, began reinforcing Israel’s defenses by deploying:
- Patriot missile batteries
- THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) systems
- U.S. Navy destroyers working alongside the IDF for live missile interception
Defense expert Tom Karako, director of the Missile Defense Project at CSIS, issued a grim warning:
“Neither Israel nor the U.S. can keep intercepting missiles forever. This war won’t be won on defense alone.”
Iran’s New Threat: The Hypersonic Fattah-1
Iran made the audacious claim that it had engaged in combat using its brand-new Fattah-1 hypersonic missile. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claims that because these missiles are so swift, they can get past current missile defence systems, possibly making the Arrow and Iron Dome useless.
This might indicate a risky change in the strategic balance if confirmed.
Israel Strikes Back: Daylight Assault on Tehran
In retaliation, Israel launched a massive daytime airstrike on Wednesday, deploying over 50 fighter jets deep into Iranian airspace. Their primary targets included:
Target Type | Location |
---|---|
Uranium centrifuge plant | Tehran outskirts |
Military production facilities | Central Iran |
Meanwhile, seven drones launched by Iran were intercepted mid-air by Israeli defense systems.
Tehran Under Lockdown: Fear Grips Civilians
Conditions in Tehran have drastically worsened:
- Internet blackouts in multiple areas
- Thousands taking refuge in metro stations and shelters
- First ‘safe return’ flight from Cyprus landed in Israel via El Al airlines, bringing home Israelis who had fled the country due to the war
Supreme Leader’s Threat: “No More Mercy”
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei made a provocative statement on social media, declaring:
“Use of force is essential against the terrorist regime. There will be no more mercy.”
His words suggest Iran has no intention of backing down—and may escalate the conflict even further.
